National Car Rental: Emerald Club Executive Status

When renting a car, most companies are always trying to upsell you on all their add-ons (fuel, insurance, etc.). Over the years and with my Dad’s recommendation, I’ve found it very easy to use National’s Emerald Aisle service. You book an intermediate car and you have a choice of any car on the aisle. You hop in the car which already has the keys in it and drive to the exit. At the exit you hand the booth agent your drivers license and off you go! It’s a super easy process and no upsell.

You can earn their Executive status by renting 12 times in a year or by being a AMEX Platinum cardholder. Since I’m a AMEX Platinum cardholder I qualify for Executive status (details available through AMEX) which gives you access to the Executive aisle. The Executive aisle gives you access to nicer Premium cars & SUV’s than the normal aisle stocks. In the past few years I’ve been lucky and able to rent a Chevy Suburban, Chevy Camaro RS, Buick LaCrosse and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4×4 all while paying the price of an intermediate car.
