Virgin Australia Business Class: OOL-SYD B737-800
I booked this Virgin Australia domestic Business Class ticket using Virgin America points as typically I fly Coach for short flights. It was just a 90 minute flight from Gold Coast to Sydney, but the service was fantastic! Virgin Australia mainly flies 737-800 planes on their domestic routes which is the same fleet that Southwest flies here in the US.
After checkin, I was able to use the Virgin Australia Lounge at Gold Coast Airport (OOL). I was shocked at how large and modern it was for a domestic lounge. The food and drink selection was excellent plus the lounge offered a view of the runway. I enjoyed a Fat Yak beer and then boarded my flight after catching up on emails.

Upon boarding, I was shown to my seat which was 2A. The seats reminded me of the new Alaska Airlines First Class seats on their 737-900’s which were comfy and perfect for a short flight. The flight attendant handed me a Samsung Android tablet as they don’t have any built-in IFE. The tablet was a bit difficult to use coming from an iOS user but worked fine throughout the flight.
Dinner was served which was an amazing chicken curry soup. It was a perfect light and healthy meal. After a short 90 minutes, we were landing at SYD.

Overall: Virgin Australia offers an excellent business class service on their domestic flights. I’ll fly them anytime I’m down in Australia. The Virgin brand is strong globally thanks to Sir Richard Branson!
