JetBlue Mint Class: SFO-JFK A321

I earned 75,000 JetBlue miles during a promotion last year and I finally used them for Mint Class from SFO to JFK on a redeye flight. It was a perfect flight to test their Mint Class, “Business Class”, lie-flat service.

The flight cost me $5.60 & 77,100 JetBlue miles so I transferred some AMEX Membership Reward points to top off my account for this redemption. The value per point ended up being $0.013 which proves JetBlue points aren’t very valuable, but for the free points I received it didn’t matter.

Points Booking

I boarded my flight from SFO’s International Terminal which is where JetBlue operates. The flight departed at 11:45PM so I was ready for bed after boarding. Adam & Katy greeted me upon boarding and then proceeded to give me a tour of the “Suite”. I’ve never had this type of service on a domestic flight, only internationally. I was very impressed with the service after the poor service on my first JetBlue flight. This premium product is excellent and the lie-flat bed beats Virgin America on this route which I thought I’d never say. They even hand out a Hopper amenity kit for the flight. Very nice touch!

After takeoff, I requested the crew to wake me for breakfast prior to landing and proceeded to put my bed into the bed position. I closed the suite door and off to bed I went.

I was woken up 45min prior to landing and served breakfast. The breakfast wrap was very tasty and I was ready to start touring around New York! We landed in heavy fog @ JFK but NYC was clear. The Airspace lounge (AMEX Platinum card offers access) offers a shower room so I decided to grab a shower to freshen up real quick. It wasn’t the cleanest but worked for a quick rinse.

Overall: If you need to sleep on your overnight flight to New York I’d highly recommend JetBlue Mint Class as they have a lie-flat bed. There are only 4 “throne seats” which gives single travelers tons of space and privacy so booked early if you’d like the best seats.
