The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort: The St. Regis Suite

Wow! Upon arrival, Ismail Waheed, our butler toured us around our St. Regis Suite. The resort is just 1 year old so everything was brand new and modern. From the fixtures to the high end electronics to the amazing balcony with a pool, hammocks & a cabana, this was true paradise! We stayed here for 3 nights so it gave us time to really enjoy the Suite. The St. Regis Suite‘s are 3,035 sq ft giving us plenty of room the spread out which includes a 215 sq ft private outdoor pool.

Ismail mentioned the best way to identify our room and other St. Regis Suites is by the pottery in front of the suite holding a traditional ladle crafted from a coconut shell to rinse our feet before entering. There were 3 beach cruiser bikes on our front deck to get around the island if we didn’t want to request a buggy on demand.

After the tour, he sabered the Devaux Grande Reserve Brut (welcome gift) on our deck to start our vacation! Ismail made it extra special as he is the best butler on the island 🙂

 

Interior:
When you walk in you are greeted by the open living room with a dining table. The living room table had a fresh fruit platter which was replenished everyday. There was a mini bar and espresso machine available near the dining table. There were some welcome snacks and candies on display as well. Around the corner to the right is a half bath which was handy to have if the master bath was in use. To the left of the entrance was the walk in closet area with a powder room. The master bedroom with 1 king bed is located off of the living room area, but has sliding doors for privacy. The master bathroom featured a free standing tub, dual vanity and rainforest head shower along with Remède products which are some of my favorite hotel bath products. The Suite is fitted with the latest technology: electric shades & drapes, Bang & Olufsen TV’s & speakers, iPad’s for room controls and room service ordering.

Exterior:
On the deck of the Suite it features you own private pool, outdoor shower, 2 lounge chairs, a cabana, table with chairs and a chaise lounge daybed. Being able to walk right into the ocean from the deck using the provided stairs make Overwater villas unique. Going for a swim or snorkel whenever you’d like is a pure luxury. Snorkeling equipment was provided after checkin once we gave our butler our shoe sizes. The pool isn’t heated, but was kept warm in the late morning and early afternoon given we faced east. There was even some jets in the pool making a small jacuzzi feeling.

Privacy of Suite 508:
The Suite was located on the island facing side of the overwater villas which isn’t 100% private, but this Suite was the best on that side. It was the located at the apex of the curve so we were tucked away with the most privacy. The most private St. Regis Suite would be room 519.

The St. Regis Maldives Description of The St. Regis Suite:
“Floor-to-ceiling glass doors welcome guests into the stunning living room, which is awash with natural light and anchored by mahogany floors. A stately dining table is set for four while a powder room is situated off the living area for added convenience. Whether for crafting an email at the writing desk or enjoying a wealth of entertainment options, this Overwater St. Regis Suite includes two Bang & Olufsen 55-inch LCD televisions and sound systems as well as iPad room controls. In the separate bedroom, floor-to-ceiling windows and vertical ceilings set the backdrop for the king-size St. Regis Bed, warm wood side tables, cream settee, and the green-globe art installation. A spacious walk-in closet also offers an abundance of storage. The spa-inspired bathroom is wrapped in elegant marble and crowned by a chandelier. A glass-wrapped rainforest shower, separate deep soaking bathtub with Remède amenities, and double vanities with a 20-inch mirror-embedded LCD television typify the pampering experience of this bathroom. WiFi is available throughout the resort and in each guest rooms.”

Room Cost:
I spent 58,500 SPG points per night (during the 35% off award promotion period) when booking an Overwater Villa. We were then upgraded to The St. Regis Suite thanks to the hotel and my amazing SPG Ambassador, Tiffiny. Spending 100+ nights at SPG hotels in 2016 sure did pay off this trip 🙂 Spending 175,500 SPG points isn’t typically an easy decision as they are so hard to accumulate, but I knew it would be worth it based on reviews! I value SPG points around $0.02 so this 3 night stay was ~$3,500 in points. The rate for The St. Regis Suite runs $3,500 per night so this was an amazing value!

 

Conclusion: This is the best room I’ve stayed in to date for a beach/island location and the value was excellent given the points I spent. It offered everything you could imagine and I could easily spend over a week here. Next time I hope I can stay longer 🙂
