The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort: Island Amenities
The St. Regis offers a vast amount of island amenities to keep you busy during your stay. Even though you are “stuck” on the island during your stay, you have plenty of choices. During our 3 night stay, we didn’t get around to trying everything out. There were plenty of activities that were available at no charge and the equipment was brand new as many guests just relax in their villas.
The Vommuli Dive & Watersports Centre offer kayaks, standup paddle boards and snorkeling gear at no charge. We decided to take kayaks out for an hour. They allow you to go as far as the last overwater villa, 519, although we just went to the edge of the John Jacob Astor Estate. You can’t do a full loop of the island. It was a fun paddle and not too challenging as the area is protected by the house reef. The sea life was much more vast near the 2 bedroom family villas at the beginning of the paddle. It appears the construction of the resort had the least amount of impact in this area as well as near the Iridium Spa. I’d highly recommend taking kayaks out on an afternoon!
The Vommuli House offers a gym, yoga studio, relaxing space, outdoor tennis, foosball, ping ping, air hockey and a pool table. I honestly never stepped foot inside this building until our final few hours on the island. If I stayed longer I’d most likely use the Facilities as everything was top notch. The gym still smelled new. The anti-gravity yoga would be an interesting activity to try next time.
The Iridium Spa offers various treatments as well as the Blue Hole Pool which is the largest hydrotherapy pool in the Maldives. The massage treatments were top notch and discounted by 20% for SPG Platinum members, but still more expensive than US hotel prices. The Blue Hole is available to use for 2 hours @ $60/person. Our butler, Ismail, was able to organize a private experience to watch the sunrise from it. Wow! I wish I could relax in this hydrotherapy pool everyday. It was so relaxing and the jets were very powerful. Sunrise yoga was also available at 8AM everyday in front of the Spa. Great way to start your day. Luckily I was able to attend twice and the instructor was very knowledgeable. Give it a try!
Ismail, our butler, was able to coordinate the use of a Family Villa to do some stargazing as the West side of the island provided the best vantage point and we were able to capture the Milky Way! The following night Adam, another butler, setup a very high end automated telescope on top of Alba to view some stars. It’s a perfect environment to do some star gazing. Turn off the lights and you’ll be amazed!
The main pool is located outside Alba, but we only used it once as we had our own private pool at our St. Regis Suite.
You’ll never get bored at St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort!
